1What is the ART PRP™?

The ART PRP PLUS™ system has an integrated filter system for the ultrafiltration of proteins from platelet poor plasma (PPP) to create a fluid rich in growth factors.

ART PRP™ PLUS

1What is the ART PRP™ PLUS?
The ART PRP™ PLUS concentration system has an integrated filter system for the concentration of proteins from the platelet poor plasma (PPP). By transferring the plasma from one syringe on Port “B” to another syringe on Port “C” the growth factors and beneficial proteins travel through hundreds of hollow, nanoporous fibers. During this process, water and salt ions are pushed out while the beneficial proteins are retained and concentrated.

The PPP can be passed multiple times from syringe to syringe through the filter until the desired volume is obtained. The PPP contains proteins like Alpha-2 Macroglobulin (A2M), Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein (IRAP), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Platelet-derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-Beta), Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF), Fibronectin and Fibrinogen. 1,2,3

A2M is a powerful natural plasma protease inhibitor, cytokine carrier, and ligand for cell-signaling receptors, and is synthesized primarily in the liver but dispersed through the blood plasma in whole blood and bone morrow. 3,6 A2M stops the progress of Osteoarthritis (OA) by preventing degenerative cartilage breakdown and assisting with cartilage repair. 1,2,5 It can also inhibit inflammatory cytokines, and it thus disrupts inflammatory cascades.
In its plasma-soluble tetramer form, it encapsulates matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and other destructive enzymes common to arthritic tissue and slows or halts the breakdown of articular cartilage surfaces and other forms of extracellular matrix (ECM).7 A2M also binds pro-inflammatory molecules TNF- , TGF- , and IL-1. While IRAP is present at much higher levels in bone marrow aspirate, the amount available in the whole blood is still concentrated with the ART PRP Plus system.
